Quick answer
F3E5 on Whirlpool dryers explained, including leveling, small loads and the breaker reset.
Model note: Whirlpool reuses codes across series and model years, so F3E5 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.

What this codemay mean.
A plain-language reading of the code — always confirm against your model’s documentation.
Mean
F3E5 is a moisture sensor issue that appears after five consecutive loads dry without sensor data.
Moisture Sensor Issue is the heading Whirlpool uses for F3E5, and the manual’s explanation is short: the dryer completed five loads in a row with no moisture sensor data coming through.
Level and load size
An unlevel dryer can prevent laundry from adequately touching the sensors on the inside of the drum, so check it with a level and turn the feet as needed. Because the top of some dryers is curved, the manual suggests measuring along the cabinet edge. Very small loads or lone garments can also miss the sensors; choose an Automatic cycle instead of a Timed Dry cycle and load more.
Clearing and power cycling
The Power button clears the display and permits a restart. For a stubborn code, power cycle the unit:
breakers off for one minute
breakers back on
start a timed dry cycle
watch the dryer for one minute to see whether F3E5 stays gone
Call for service if the problem remains.
