Quick answer
OFb or ofb flags an unbalanced load on a Whirlpool top load washer that needs manual correction.
Model note: Whirlpool reuses codes across series and model years, so OFb may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.

What this codemay mean.
A plain-language reading of the code — always confirm against your model’s documentation.
Mean
Off-balance load that automated methods could not correct; the load must be redistributed manually.
Out-of-balance loads are the reason behind OFb (or ofb) on a Whirlpool top load washer. After automated methods fail to correct the imbalance, the washer asks for manual intervention to spread the load evenly around the washplate.
Correcting an unbalanced load
While the code is on the display
Press the Start button or unplug the power cord to cancel the cycle.
If water remains, run a drain-only cycle.
Before the next cycle, shift the clothing around or remove a few items, so the load sits level and is not overloaded. Bulky or Heavy Duty is the cycle the manual suggests.
Washing finished and only water extraction needed? A Drain & Spin cycle is an option once the load is rearranged.
While the cycle can still be paused
Pause with the Start button, lift the lid, move the garments or lessen the load, and press Start to continue.

An overloaded drum shows oL, and an open or stuck lid is covered by Lid.
