Quick answer
A top load washer shows F0E9 when the load stays uneven after its self-correction attempt.

What this codemay mean.
A plain-language reading of the code — always confirm against your model’s documentation.
Mean
F0E9 shows an unbalanced load that the washer could not correct on its own.
Meaning of F0E9
An unbalanced load. The washer could not even out the clothing during its own correction attempt, so it displays the message.
Signs of an unbalanced load
Loud noise while spinning.
Excessive shaking.
Clothes still wet when the cycle ends.
Background
Uneven weight sets the basket moving, which brings noise, vibration, slower spinning, longer cycles and lower performance. This usually happens in the spin phase once washing is done. The washer first refills and gently turns back and forth to spread the clothes; if that fails, F0E9 appears, and a major imbalance may stop spinning entirely. Then the load has to be redistributed manually.
Stop immediately if you notice smoke, sparks, a burning smell, gas odor, or water near electrical parts.
Safe
Important
Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
