Quick answer
Whirlpool stacked laundry center E3 means the washer may be unbalanced. How to rebalance the load and restart the spin.
Model note: Whirlpool reuses codes across series and model years, so E3 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.

What this codemay mean.
A plain-language reading of the code — always confirm against your model’s documentation.
Mean
E3 is an unbalanced alarm: the washer may be too tightly packed or the clothing not evenly distributed.
An unbalanced washer
Most often during spin, a stacked laundry center washer from Whirlpool can show E3 because it is unbalanced. The manual names two causes: the washer packed too tightly, or clothing not spread evenly.
Rebalancing
Stop the spin. Take out several items, spread the rest evenly around the washplate and start the Spin cycle again.

Another spin-time message is E4. Unrelated to load balance, E5 lists codes where the washer may require service.
