Error code F9E1 Drain Issues
Appliance Washer Dryer
Content status Verified
Quick answer

F9E1 on a Whirlpool all-in-one washer dryer means it is not draining in a timely manner, or at all. The manual lists drain pump, bellows and hose checks.

Model note: Whirlpool reuses codes across series and model years, so F9E1 Drain Issues may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.

Whirlpool

What this code may mean.

A plain-language reading of the code — always confirm against your model’s documentation.

The washer dryer is not draining in a timely manner, or at all.

Why F9E1 shows up

F9E1 is the drain message for Whirlpool all-in-one washer dryers: water is leaving too slowly, or not at all. A dirty drain pump, blocked bellows drain holes or a blocked drain hose can each be behind it.

Step by step

  1. Clean the drain pump filter, then the bellows drain holes. The maintenance section of the manual covers both.
  2. Check the drain hose for blockages.
  3. Verify the hose installation: no more than 4.5 inches inside the standpipe or laundry sink, routed at least 24 inches off the floor, and not over 96 inches.

Overflow trouble from the inlet valve is a different message, F8E3.
