Quick answer
The owner's manual describes L2 as low or no line voltage that keeps a dryer heater from turning on.
Model note: Whirlpool reuses codes across series and model years, so L2 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.

What this codemay mean.
A plain-language reading of the code — always confirm against your model’s documentation.
Mean
Low or no line voltage that keeps the heater from turning on.
Heater off, dryer still turning
With L2 the drum can keep turning while the heater stays off, because the supply to the heater is low or missing. A tap on any pad takes the code off the display and returns the estimated time remaining. Series covered: commercial-grade residential dryers, regular dryers and HybridCare dryers. For HybridCare, the manual labels it a diagnostic code seen during the initial installation only.
Owner’s manual steps
Breakers and fuses: the dryer works from two household fuses or breakers (a 30-amp circuit fused on both sides), one for the drum motor and one for the heating element. If either has tripped, heat can be lost. The manual says to replace the fuse or reset the breaker.
Cord: installation matters. Look at the installation instructions, unplug the unit and make sure the terminal screws are snug.
Restart: power the unit down at the breaker for 1 minute, power it up, run a timed dry cycle and keep an eye on it for 1 minute.
A 240-volt supply is required. A qualified electrician should check the supply if the code stays.
Nearby codes
Look at LF for the HybridCare filter and FE for another power source fault.
